 Illustration Thesis 2025 - Ethereal Entities

  • Thesis is a course dedicated to graduating students at OCAD University in Toronto to prepare their portfolios and presentation consisting of 8 original artworks for the Graduating Exhibition; GradEX. It’s student lead and instructor guided, allowing students to have creative freedom with their ideas and artwork.

  • My thesis, Ethereal Entities, is about outerspace and the theories and phenomena that we have conjured and scientists have theorized. My work takes these theories and portrays them as psychedelic humanoid entities and Gods. I wanted to reimagine these theories as if these beings are the cause or creation of them. Each work focuses on a different theory and plays with how a humanoid entity would create, interact, and impact outerspace and our lives, challenging the idea of how little we know about outerspace. We still don’t know the vastness of our existence, so who’s to say there’s no powerful space Goddess building our universe?

  • I love bold, weird, trippy, and exciting colours, styles, and characters. Oddly enough, I’m terrified of space, but the unknown aspect of it also intruiges me, which is why this concept worked so well. I was able to have complete freedom creating these characters, as theories are unproven ideas. I found myself letting loose, using weird colours, creating unique characters, and creating a space-themed environment suiting each character. I love the waves, the vibrant colours, and the seductiveness of each individual, embracing the divine feminine energy and their naturally beautiful bodies.

  • All my thesis work was created digitally, using Procreate for iPad.

The Boötes Void

The Boötes Void is the largest known void in our universe, named as such because of its closeness to the Boötes constellation. It’s unknown why it's so empty, as that area would normally have over 2000 galaxies, but only houses roughly 60. This void raises questions about dark matter and dark energy, leaving scientists questioning how our universe may be expanding.

I interpreted the Boötes Void as a lonely Goddess, floating through the void, with her tears to wrap around her in the cold abyss.

The Great Attractor

The Great Attractor is an unknown mass in the universe that’s dragging all surrounding galaxies toward it, including our Milky Way. Although scientists have gathered evidence that this exists, we still don’t know what it is, and because of the Zone of Avoidance, an area that’s obscured by our galaxy, we are unable to observe the mass.

I picture The Great Attractor to be an attractive Goddess, using conjured hands to grab galaxies and planets, while she dances in the light from the stars.

The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang theory questions how the universe was created, theorizing that matter and mass came together and became so condensed that is exploded outwards, thus its name the Big Bang.

What if the Big Bang was a psychedelic, trippy Goddess, carrying the universe in her womb, then naturally giving birth as the universe builds around her.

Wormhole Theory

Wormholes are theorized to be a connection between two black holes, bending and warping gravity to travel from one part of the universe to another. Although this theory will likely never be confirmed, some say it is entirely possible. If it were to exist and we reached one, upon entering, the connection would likely collapse due to its delicate nature.

Two demon-like entities making love and creating a deep connection through their souls, creating a passage through time and space. With the highest form of intimate connection, they lay vulnerable in space, out of reach from life.

Quantum Immortality

Quantum Immortality theorizes the idea that one doesn’t truley die, as the universe has infinite paralels for every possible outcome, meaning you would always survive, beacuse in a different universe you live. There is no possible way to confirm quantum immortality.

A being who once thought she was a mortal, now a quantum immortal who has lived and transcended through countless lives and paralells, so much so that she holds one of many souls from previous paralells, realessing her to peacefully dissolve into the universe.

Simulation Theory

The Simulation Theory suggests that we are a mere computer simulation, being controlled by an external mind, watching and controlling us. Scientists have said that it’s a possible 50% chance to be reality, as in the future, if we can create such a simulation, they believe they would do it, which means we could be a part of one currently.

A futuristic cyborg whose duty is to monitor Earth, although she gets distracted by holographic technology and uses it for her own pleasure. With an explosive orgasmic sensation, the Earth and moon explode with her, although with chaos and not pleasure.

Dark Energy

Dark Energy is what’s thought to be responsible for expanding our universe, meaning there’s no edge. Dark energy hasn’t been proven to exist, although our universe’s radius is also a mystery.

The embodiment of dark energy, pushing her way through the void to build the universe, channeling light through her to attack the darkness.

The Multiverse

The Multiverse Theory suggests that there’s an infinite amount of alternative universes, with alternative versions of ourselves, all being slightly different from each other, yet the same individual. This theory is often used in popular media, creating various versions of one character.

A psychedelic pentagram, connecting the multiverse and revealing five personalities and themes, relating to their own universe and individual identity, yet they fit together as one entity.
